Due to changes to Fire Alarm legislation in Scotland demand that all properties must have an Interlinked Fire & Smoke Alarm system installed.
Whether you are a homeowner or landlord the changes apply to you, for example heat alarms must be fitted in every kitchen, one smoke alarm must be installed in every circulation space on each storey of the property such as hallways and stair landings. You must also install a smoke alarm in the room most used for general daytime living purposes and the whole system must be interlinked or interconnected so if a smoke alarm is activated in the kitchen and you are upstairs in a bedroom you will still hear the alarm and have time to either leave the building safely or call the emergency services.

Why does your property require and Interlinked Fire & Smoke Alarms System?
Following the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower in London, a Ministerial Working Group on Building and Fire Safety was established to review Scotland’s building and fire safety regulatory frameworks. This legislation will ensure that everyone in Scotland has the same level of protection whether they own or rent their home. This currently applies to all rented or new build property in Scotland and will apply to all homes once the final date has been set.
